I brought my cockatiel in for an episode of respiratory distress. He had improved by the time I arrived but with birds you have to be diligent. After paying an exam fee upfront and assured that an exotic specialist would see him, I waited... over three hours in a room separate from him, only to find out my cockatiel had received no exam (or contact from the vet whatsoever). Instead he was just left in an oxygen room screaming for three hours (it would have been longer if I hadn’t decided to check on his status with the receptionist). Only when I probed did the vet admit to not even palpating him, and suggested that I come back Sunday when they have someone more experienced with exotics.read more

Very professional and caring staff!Dr. Thyen is a brilliant veterinarian with a gift for communicating to the pets parents, information about their animals examination and possible treatments. She has a wonderful communication gift, which... belies her extraordinary knowledge of veterinary medicine. While the process was expensive, I find it difficult to place a value on the health of a beloved family member.I am very impressed with the facility at Evolution and even more so with the quality of the staff. My dog received care over and above my expectations. She's going home a very happy dog!read more

Having recently gone through the entire lymphoma process with my dear sweet rottweiler, I am so thankful that EVS was there with me. Dr. Sam Hocker, oncologist, was compassionate and knowledgeable, and everyone was clearly a pet lover who... wanted to help whoever walked in that door. Like most stories of lymphoma, his ended in tears, but, again, the staff at EVS gave me the space to say goodbye to my best friend. Worst experience of my life, but I'm so glad the staff of EVS was there to help me through it all. Couldn't have asked for better caregivers to my baby, from front desk to the back, just wonderful people.read more

I cannot say enough good things about EVS. We had not heard about this Vet Clinic until our regular veterinarian left a message to go there.Yesterday, in the midst of a snowstorm, our beloved dog Millie began having Grand Mal seizures.... She had adrenal cancer diagnosed 5 months ago but we had managed to keep her going with the enormous help of the wonderful Valley Vet.Yesterday we brought Millie to EVS. They were wonderful too; compassionate and knowledgeable and supportive rolled into one. From the first encounter with the registration staff to the vet techs to the Vet herself, it was a great experience at a terrible time. They stabilized Millie so we could hold her and love on her for the last time and gave us as much time as we needed. ( we needed months but …) Then we held her while she passed to the other side. Through tears I write this to say that obviously this was more painful than I can ever put into words, but EVS helped us so much. I will sing their praises to every pet owner.read more

I took my baby here yesterday unfortunately he didn't make it he had tracheal collapse and vet didn't do anything to help him they only put him in a very hot kennel with oxygen they new he was having trouble breeding they could of... intubated him but they didn't he suffer and struggle, when he passed they then run and try to intubate him and did CPR why they didn't intubated him in the first place actually i know why i was trying to apply for care credit and they were waiting for me to get approved in order to start treatment I had money obviously but i wanted to make sure i had extra just in case i need it front desk lady told me we can't do anything until we have some sore of funds in the system i told her what are you waiting for here's my card, she took my initial payment and took us to a room but it was already too late they killed my baby 😭and on top of that they charged me almost 600 dollars to make him suffer, biggest mistake coming here i don't recommend it was horrible seeing my baby suffer the way he did, he died in my arms 😢 worse part ever is that the manager emailed me and had the nerve to say I'm sorry you feel this way about us can we talk about it like if talking about it was going to bring my baby back please please don't take you baby's hereread more

Money is their motivation and i found them to be overpriced relative to other cardiac vets in Colorado . There is a reason they charge up front and it's because they operate the business like an up charging car wash .The appointments... felt rushed and delayed at the same time . Yes, it's somehow possible .And while the doctors are extremely knowledgeable and qualified they are not informative nor forthcoming with their time or empathy.the various appointment "policies" they have in place are in short ; greedy. they charge more and more often .My last physical visit was in 2022 . Last week my local/current vet at cherralyn animal hospital asked me to get an out patient echocardiogram which he does not have the equipment to do.Although I stopped going to EVS because I previously had a two bad experiences with them i thought they are located near by so give them a call to get this simple echocardiogram for my current vet to interpret and diagnose my dog. Those two bad experiences: 1. I came in for appointment with cardiologist (second visit ), when they took my dogTo the back to run vitals and blood test , they also gave my dog an EKG , which was a charge more then double the original appointment cost ,So I did not authorize that ekg and then vet comes in tells charging me for an EKG , so I challenged them and said "you don't ask the owner for permission to do procedures that have additional charges?"So then she proceeds hold the pertinent information of my dogs health ransom unless I'm OK with a charge I didnt previously agree to. Mind you , At that point she already read and knew what was going on with ekg, So why wouldn't she just tell me and provide good service , well because she didn't care about the dog or its owners experience because she needed that additional charge for ekg test that cost them nothing absolutely nothing to perform . The test is electrical rods connected to a device that measures the heartbeat rhythm and its strength . Anyways, they don't charge me for the EKG and they barely tell me anything of what's going on with my dog even though I paid for the cardiologist visit , second time, so we stay on the medication regimen that he was already on at time and life goes on, waste of $. Fast-forward to February 2024 chewy online needs my prescription updated , so I contact evolution and they demand that I come back in for a full cardiologist visit with with test that are gonna amount to over $800 in charges just to get his already in place prescription renewed, like why not just let us keep the on going prescription with out demanding more money / another unneeded visit ... If that is not predatory , I don't know what is .So with horrible experience ,I took my business to a new vet , cheralynn animal hospital ( amazing people and very knowledgeable ) .Now present day I called for that outpatient echocardiogram which should cost about $350 and they demand that I have to do a visit with their cardiologist in order to and the echocardiogram exam . , . And to boot the receptionist was snappy about it , like zero kindness, just this is our policy we have to do this and it's gonna cost x . Doesn't matter if he is being seen by another vet and your don't want to meet with cardiologist we have to charge your for that visit too and the test.Well I reached out to CVCA , got his echocardiogram and ekg and the actual vet visit was included in the cost of the BOTH tests and had a great experience under the circumstances.read more

HORRIBLE experience… spent 3 hours late at night trying to make sure my chickens comb was gonna be okay… I understand being busy and having stressful situations, but specifically Amber, she was completely unprofessional and... uncompassionate. That entire time was spent waiting to hear back while all they did was examine her cut.. didn’t even clean up the blood.. so I asked Amber how she was able to see exactly what was needed because there was so much blood around her, she responds with the snotiest tone “I examined her?”. Oh cool so I spent $280 for you to look at her and see that there’s a wound… She proceeded to tell me that she cannot clean up my chicken without SEDATING her, so that would’ve costed about $210 extra!… just to CLEAN her… they told me she needed stitches and to be kept overnight. For a grand total of $2k… mind you, this is my egg laying chicken… I walked out spending $400 total on antibiotic's and for them to just LOOK at her… I’m so beyond pissed at this experience… the least you could’ve done was clean her up so she wasnt covered in blood. AWFUL place and most importantly, Amber was one of the WORST medical “professional's” I have ever dealt with.. save your time, money and headache and go somewhere else…read more

We were referred to Evolution Vet Specialists by our regular vet for a surgical consult with Dr. O’ Donnell for a torn CCL (ACL). We arrived early for our appointment, but were brought back to a room almost right away. The doctor saw us... ahead of our scheduled time, examined my pup’s leg, explained his recommendations for surgery—which surgery and why—and what to expect post-operatively. My pup had surgery the same day! We had a great experience from the front desk staff, vet assistants, and the surgeon. Dr. O’ Donnell felt trustworthy, knowledgeable, and experienced with CCL tears and repair. We are now on the road to recovery and thankful for our good care.read more

Dr. Lake-Bakaar went the extra mile for my cardiac alert dog. He was diagnosed with Valley Fever before we moved from Arizona, and the vets there weren't listening to me when I expressed that something else was wrong. We moved to Aurora 4... months after his diagnosis, and his health rapidly declined. We were back and forth between VCA Alameda and EVS for 2 days straight doing diagnostics and they found he had a pretty severe case of pericarditis, which caused his heart to not work properly, which lead to his organs slowly shutting down. We did an emergency heart surgery, which sadly was unsuccessful at no surgeons fault. We gave Goose the best last two weeks of life a young 4yr old service dog could dream of and we said goodbye on 09/06/24. I am forever grateful for EVS and everything they did for us to try and save my boy. He was never scared walking into that building, which makes me happy that he wasn't afraid while he was there. Unfortunately,I had a terrible experience here with my lizard- and sharing to caution all other pet owners. They not only prescribed inappropriate medication (without proper storage instructions) for my pet, but were also unable to... properly diagnose him without over 1,600 of unnecessary tests/procedures.After paying for an exam and a consult fee, they wanted to recharge me the same price again to see my pet the next day for the same issue- even though NO DIAGNOSIS was made. In essence, I was told unless I was willing to spend over 1,600 on my lizard’s care- there was no hope for him and I should consider his quality of life. Beyond thankful I found an urgent exotic practice that was not profit over pets. Evolution is 100% a money grab exploiting folks at their most vulnerable. Pretty deplorable business model.Supposedly- the exorbitant estimate they gave me to treat my pet was advised by the exotic doctor on staff- all of which ended up being unnecessary procedures/tests to solve my reptiles issue. None of their proposed tests, treatments, or medications were advised or recommended at a different facility.Go elsewhere if you can. Your emotional state and wallet will thank you.We had an amazing and fully transparent experience at Colorado Exotic Animal Hospital and I will never be bringing my pup or reptile back to Evolution.read more

We noticed our dog was having trouble breathing so we gave them a call around 9PM. They were able to get us in right away and very patiently and kindly walked through the recommended steps we could take right when we arrived. They... performed x-rays and blood work and very kindly and calmly walked through his health with us. We instantly felt at ease knowing he was going to get taken care of right away. Even at 11PM, the vet patiently sat down to walk through everything with us with great enthusiasm. Would come back for emergency or non emergency care in the future. We were worried the cost of emergency care would be through the roof and while late night vet bills are never the most fun, the cost was very reasonable for on the spot emergency care.read more

Thank you, Ebony, for being so warm and caring as I lost my little best friend. My regular vet was closed as I discovered my rabbit, Toby, was losing his battle of GI stasis. I called Evolution and was told to bring him right in.... Unfortunately, as I was driving over, Toby passed. I was inconsolable when I got to the vet, and Ebony showed me so much kindness and helped me with next steps. The team set me up in a room to say bye to my sweet boy and got me all set with a cremation plan.I’m surprised at the reviews that say Evolution only cares about taking your money, as they had opportunity to do so from me, but instead allowed me space to grieve without charging me for bringing in/confirming the death of my bunny. Earlier this week our 7 chickens were attacked by a fox. 4 didn't make it, and 3 were still hanging on but with bad injuries. We had never been to Evolution Veterinary Specialists, but we called to see if we could bring out girls in. Right... when we got there they met us at the door and got us in a room to see an avian specialist. Had work done on both my dogs, everyone there was great , took care of my dogs issues with knowledge and understanding.Any specialty care, this is the place.I need to update this review as my recent experience here was completely... different than the last two yearsIt seems there are always new front desk people and most certainly most show no compassion for your pet, some do, most don't.Had my pet examined three months ago, but the doctor's time with me was very limited to about 10 minutes and didn't really know how my pet was doing with its heart problem. After two years, thousands of dollars later, it seemed the same important for my pet was not the sameThree weeks ago had to take my pet to their emergency as he was having a problem breathing, without going into a long story the guy at the front was very caring. If you have an animal that is being treated by a specialist, unfortunately this emergency hospital is not the place as after X-rays no one really knew how to read them, took a guess and said they would get with the specialist the following day which would have been Thurs, yet we heard nothingThis is just the short version, however 5 days later we were back at emergency, we were required to fill out new paperwork as if my pet was never there, and fifty questions later from the uncaring girl at the front, finally got some help4 hours later, then saying they are short on help, they also were not sure of the new X-rays and prescribed another medication. They wanted to keep him over night but I felt since they had no help, I would rather take him home, which at this time I really felt he was going to pass awayI realize being told two years ago the medication he was taking would only prolong his life, but how everything was handled three weeks ago just made me realize my animal is only important when money is involved. That weds, and Sunday, total cost around $1500, but if they could help it seemed we would pay anythingEither way, our beloved pet passed away about two hours after bringing him home, when I called them days later to cancel an appointment for him, because of his passing l waited thinking dr bakkar would call, but three weeks later nothing, which now I believe it really shows just how important Henry was to themI wished I felt as I did two years earlier, but something changed there and I know now just how much my animal really meant to themSorry they could care less, but it's your money spend it where you want, but with my other little one I won't be taking him there.read more

Waited almost two hours with no communication, when someone finally did come in he told me that there was no exotic vet on staff that night and it was up to me if I wanted to leave now so I could make it up to CSU before they close. This... would have been nice to know when I called prior to coming, or at any point in the hours they made me wait. If they hadn't taken my rabbit and my payment information right when I got there I would have walked out. They still charged the $250 exam fee (double what I have paid at other urgent care vets) even though there wasn't an exotic vet present to do the exam, and my poor bunny had to sit in a stressful environment with no treatment for hours. They then sent me an email asking me to leave a review, so here is my honest opinion - go somewhere else if you have an option.read more

So grateful to have found EVS! I arrived on a Saturday morning, no appointment with my sick dog. Within a minute, a Vet Tech was at my side asking questions. My dog was the priority, not filling out paperwork. That did come along quickly... but only after Brutus was whisked off to the ICU to be examined! Of course, in an ER, animals are constantly reprioritized based on severity, so I waited quite a while for word on his condition but once the doctor was able to exam him, a Tech came right out, let me know what she had discovered and her recommendation as a place to start. Once initial bloodwork was completed, the doctor came to see me, explain results, answer questions, and provide several choices for further evaluation. ERs are always more expensive and can very quickly turn into a nightmare bill. I asked the cost differences and made decisions for treatment. I was given regular updates almost every time a Tech passed by. It took until late afternoon to be able to take Brutus home to recover but the entire staff's care and concern for both my dog and me while I was there, convinced me that I had made the right choice in coming there! Shout out to especially to Dr. Engmark, Mary, Jackson & Stephanie for your patience, caring and compassion throughout!read more

If you're looking for compassionate and professional care for your pet, this is NOT the place.I paid $735 to have the worst veterinary experience ever. I made an appointment with an Internal Medicine doc; paid $185 in advance just to set... the appointment. When I got there, everything just felt off. My cat and I sat in a room for 15 minutes before a woman came in and started asking questions without even introducing herself. I asked if she was the vet, and she said no, she was the 'vet's nurse' (aka vet tech anywhere else). She then picked up my cat and stated she was taking him back to be examined by the vet. Seriously??? I didn't even get to meet and speak with the vet and my cat would be examined without me?After a few minutes, the vet came in with my cat and gave me a quick rundown on the likelihood of IBD, which I already knew. She stated it could be something else, but couldn't be sure without more testing. I agreed to a $550 ultrasound. Again, my cat was taken away. After 15 minutes, the vet tech returned with my cat and told me the ultrasound was 'unremarkable'. For $550 the vet couldn't return to discuss the findings?Previous reviewers also mentioned their pets taken away to be examined. Does your regular vet do that? Of course not.I emailed EVS the day after this impersonal, and unprofessional experience. They called 5 days later, giving the same platitudes they do in their response to poor reviews. This operation seems totally corporate with goal #1 being to make money.read more

Was extremely disappointed in our visit. Our cat was very ill so we drove him in from Vail on Sunday because local vets were closed for Labor Day weekend. Eboni was amazing and made us feel very welcome and streamlined the intake process.... Our cat was immediately taken in for a general examination, which we appreciate. However, we were not given any update, whatsoever, for 5 hours. The doctor eventually told us that we could do some more tests, but his vitals were normal and that he seemed okay. So, we ended up taking him home at midnight and planned on taking him to a local vet asap. This morning (Monday), we woke up to him wheezing and watched as he passed away seconds later. Seems kind of ridiculous that it took 5 hours to get any update on a general intake examination. I watched a few animals check in and out before we were given any information on our cat. While I understand this office is busy, it feels irresponsible to have just let us wait 5 hours until 11:30 pm to decide if we wanted to do testing on a cat that had “normal vitals”. We will miss our cat and hope you guys will do a little better in the future. Eboni can do no better though, she made us feel very comfortable and checked in with us throughout our wait. She is really awesome.read more

Worst experience ever. It’s ironic that another review raved about Ebony making all the difference. She made all the difference alright, but in providing the exact opposite experience I could have imagined. We tried calling while we were... on our way. No one answered and our call went to a full mailbox. When we pulled in the parking lot it was empty. We went inside and there was nobody else in the waiting room. The first words out of my mouth were, my cat fell 3 stories and we need to get him checked out asap. However, the first words out of her mouth were, did you call first? I said yes but it went to a voicemail that was full. She then said, well I’ve been here all night and I would have answered. She went on to ask if I called the right number. She challenged me and thought I was lying. So I pulled out my phone and showed her the outgoing call that was 49 seconds and she just glared at me. I then said, what does it matter, we are right here in front of you and the parking lot and waiting room are empty so can’t we just move on? She said, we ask that you call ahead. It took every ounce of willpower to not walk right out the door. If I experienced this type of service at any other type of establishment besides a vet I would have absolutely walked away. However, I felt forced to endure the mistreatment for the sake of my pet. It felt like some sort of quasi passive aggressive extortion but she was happy to take my money. She then decided to talk about coffee. She said we have lots of different kinds and I’m sorry we don’t have dark roast. I’m thinking, are we at Starbucks or the emergency vet? After getting accused of lying and a coffee dissertation she finally got to helping our cat. The attitude and energy she projected was so unwelcoming, unprofessional and outright rude. It’s was as if we were interrupting her evening by showing up. Once my cat was finally taken back for an exam we started to sit down in the waiting area but before we did she said, I need you to sit on the other side, it’s for cats and this is for dogs. Again, there was nobody else in the waiting room and if a dog happened to come in it wouldn’t have made a difference. This is a trivial detail and completely unnecessary to make a big deal about it. The exam took less than 10 minutes and I’ll never know the thoroughness of it because we weren’t allowed to go back with the vet. This was extra frustrating because they obviously let some people go back with their pets because there are reviews with pictures of them in exam rooms. Our regular vet lets us go in the room with our pet to help ease the anxiety of our pet. I guess that’s their policy but I don’t agree with it. I knew we would not let them do another thing to our cat after the initial exam was completed and it didn’t have anything to do with the doctor but everything to do with Ebony. I had no faith or confidence in the entire operation because of her and how we were treated. I figured if this is the quality of staff they have to handle an emergency at 2am then the overall quality of everything else would remain consistent with what we had already experienced up until that point. We left promptly and went straight to another emergency vet and paid for another examination fee and started the whole process from scratch. I was furious to have to do this but the experience was so awful that it was less painful to go somewhere else than to remain there. We ended up going to VRCC in Englewood and our experience could not have been better. I’m still in shock by the experience with Ebony and if I can help one person avoid the same nightmare it will be worth the time it took to write this. Maybe Ebony does give good service at times but one thing for sure, she is very capable of giving terrible service and so it’s not worth the risk.read more

Our chocolate lab reached the point when she would not get up and she was very ill with cancer. Our vet was closed on Saturday, but they suggested that we contact Evolution Veterinary in an emergency situation and we are glad we did. ... That’s where we went because we were certain that this was the end. I have had to be put down 4 other pets in the past, but EVS made this bad experience very tolerable. They really care that they give you as much time as you want to say goodbye which we did. They are very compassionate through the whole process.read more

my review is really 2.5. I felt really uncomfortable with the estimate. There wasn't a hole lot of clarity. I feel like there ultimate intention was to profit without compassion. I dissected the estimate and pick chose what I felt was... necessary. When I asked if there was a way to save money I was told I could go somewhere else but they wouldn't tell me if my dog could wait to see "our" vet. I didn't hate the place and the vet seemed competent. So, 2.5 is a fair rating...read more

We brought in our 4 year old Cavapoo because she was experiencing digestive issues and coughing. We were told she had pneumonia and irritable bowel or something along those lines. After 2 nights, she was discharged and we were given a... regimen of pills to give her and were told she would slowly recover. Because of the stomach issues, we were told upon discharge (which was not with the physician) that our dog would have to be transitioned to a prescription diet and could not give her anything that varied from the specific diet from then on.That night, our dog got sicker, would not take her medicine or eat. We called the hospital multiple times and the front desk was giving us advice to feed her medicine with cheese and peanut butter, completely conflicting with the advice we were given earlier that day. The front desk should not be giving advice, period.I was eventually told by a tech, after no returned call from a physician, to just shove the medicine down her throat.I brought her back the next day because her condition had deteriorated. I was told by our physician, that she was very sick with an intestinal infection ranging from IBS to cancer and she had to be readmitted for at least 3 more nights. On the second day of her second stay (4th day in treatment), the doctor called me with very blunt results after a day of testing. Basically, she's got a fatal, extremely rare autonomic disease called Canine Dysautonomia that no doctors have any knowledge of and we were now responsible for putting her down immediately. Pretty serious and life altering decision to extinguish a 4 year old member of your family, so naturally there are questions. Every basic question I asked was met with "I can't comment on that, we don't know anything about this disease." Over and over.Knowing it would be extremely important for my wife to have some explanation from the doctor before ending our dog's life, I requested that the doctor spend 5 minutes on the phone with my wife when my wife finished work. That was met with our doctor saying this was her last patient of the day and she wouldn't be in for the following two days. She also would not allow us to discharge the dog without knowing our plans to euthanize the dog immediately. We took her out that Friday and euthanized her Saturday at home.I hope the doctor had a great weekend. We were also drained of ~$10,000 very quickly(pay in advance of course).I am questioning how thorough the initial “detailed regimen of tests” were, given that the physician has seen this condition multiple times, and how much attention was paid to the case. I also have problems with the bedside manner and excessive costs. The support staff seemed friendly enough, but I found our physician to have a serious lack of empathy and she appeared irritated the longer I wanted to discuss our dog's health. I would have appreciated a shred of compassion and guidance, instead we were firmly given marching orders left with nothing but questions. We have since been talking to leaders in the field of this rare disease and have been told 30% of dogs in the acute stages of this condition can be treated and saved. They may have chances of lingering issues, but we were not briefed on any treatment options by Evolution. The disease was diagnosed after her health had already deteriorated too far by the 4th day, though there were a few symptoms evident when we dropped her off.I know that people write reviews driven by emotion at times like this, but this purely fact.It is also worth noting that this chain of animal hospitals is owned by a private, for profit company, Mars, Inc (Snickers, M&M's, etc.) seems like a bit of a conflict of interests. For Evolution, you will be sent a packet from the experts we consulted explaining early detection and treatment. Read it, there are more cases being documented locally.read more

There is a reason that this place has such terrible reviews as of late, and I really wish I would have read them prior to going here. Unfortunately, I was in a bind and Evolution was the only place that I could take my bird because my two... regular exotic vets were having staffing shortages, and I couldn’t get her in for an urgent care visit. I called ahead of time, and was told that it would be a fee of $185, but of a consultation were needed with the zoological team, it would increase to $250. When I arrived and checked in, they automatically charged me the $250. I stated that’s not what I was told, and the desk person said that they charge the consultation fee upfront, and will refund it if it’s not needed. This made me suspicious right off the bat and I should have just went with my gut instinct and walked away, but my love for my feather baby prevailed over my rational sense. I won’t get into all the details of our visit, but there were multiple things that happened over the course of 6 hours that made me uncomfortable trusting these people with even my worst enemy. The biggest worry that I have is that they keep you separated from your pet for the entirety of the time that you are there. This a huge red flag as you cannot verify if they’ve been examined, by who, or what treatment has actually been performed. If I had known this one thing, I never would have gone there. I was told by many respectable veterinarians that if they don’t let you see or be with your pet, that is a huge red flag and run like mad from these types of veterinarian practices. Their prices are also twice or more the cost of other practices. They state in their intake forms that this is for the convenience of them being open 24 hours. What? You want me to pay twice the price because of the business hours that you choose to be open? … but I digress. The wait time for a simple physical examination was 2-3 hours, which seemed to be the case for everyone based on my conversations with other families in the main waiting area. This is simply not acceptable. Then, another long wait for the vet to throw together a treatment plan with a laundry list of unaffordable options, and another long wait for any actual treatment to be performed. Before you know it, you’ve spent the better part of a day and a fortune there to get the most basic treatment, some meds for your pet, and go home. I can say that the most appalling thing was when we were being discharged. The vet tech came into the room with my birds meds, after I specifically requested that they put her first dose into her gavage feeding so she could get some immediate relief, and put the syringes that were going to go into her mouth ON THE FLOOR!! When I pointed this out and stated that was completely unhygienic and could cause further complications with an infection, she literally said “it’s okay, we try to keep the floors pretty clean”. If that’s so true, I’d like to see you lick them because that’s equivalent to putting that syringe in my baby’s mouth. That right there just blew my mind, and solidified everything that my gut was telling me was wrong with this place. If they would do that right in front of me, what the hell was going on behind closed doors? What’s even more disturbing, she was perplexed by why I wanted her to clean them before administering the meds to my baby. Then, when waiting in the lobby for the mixup with bill to be sorted out, I witnessed another vet tech do the exact same thing with oral suspension medications for a cat. I just couldn’t believe my eyes and ears to everything that had happened from the moment of walking in the door. This review would be a novel by the time that I included every single thing that I witnessed or experienced while being there, but the bottom line is that these people do not deserve the privilege of caring for your babies. Our pets are our family, and deserve so much better than anything that this practice currently has to offer.read more

Our English Bulldog went into respiratory distress while we were driving to the mountains, so we visited Evolution's ER because they were the closest emergency vet we could find. We were so lucky to have brought him there, because he... received the best treatment we could've hoped for. In addition to getting him back in a healthy enough state to come home, they talked extensively with us about aftercare and a plan to get our dog in shape.Dr. Hon was especially incredible, but we're so grateful to all of the ER doctors that took care of our pup. It was expensive but reasonably so—what you'd expect to pay for emergency care.Highly recommend this group!read more

I cannot say enough good things about EVS. My cat swallowed a cat toy and was in an urgent situation. I called EVS on my way in to let them know I was coming and they knew the urgency of the situation. They tried to get all the information... they needed as I drove so they could respond to the cat as soon as I arrived. Once I pulled into the parking lot and walked in the doors they called the vet and they got to work right away! I was so stressed and scared I started crying as soon as they took my cat away. The front desk was so kind in that moment. They really helped me feel better. Its so clear how much they care about animals and people! They put me in a private room so I could fill out the rest of the paperwork and have some privacy.Once they did the first triage, they came in and told me all of my options along with pricing. They were so clear and really took the time to explain things to me and show me the x-ray. I really felt like not only were they caring but they were really well trained on how to handle the situation! I felt so comfortable with them being the care team. Its so hard to know what to expect when something happens with a pet, but I knew I was in great hands with people who cared about my animal as much as I did. I wish they had a non emergency vet arm because I'd love to see them more often! The whole team was Angie, Tracy, Emily, Jackie, Rowe, Chelsea, Eboni, and Dr. Penn. Again, thank you everyone. It was a scary and stressful situation that was handled with the upmost care. The last thing I'll say is when I was checking out, they all took turns to tell me how special my cat was. I'm sure my cat was a real handful but they assured me he was wonderful. They could see he was in distress and was uncomfortable but that didn't stop them from comforting him and making he was getting some pets and loving. I know how scared I was, I cannot even imagine how he was feeling. Knowing he wasn't sitting in a back exam room alone and scared made me feel such a sense of peace. I strongly recommend Dr. Sam Hocker and Dr. Matthew O'Donnell. My dog, Badger, developed some MCTs. Dr. Hocker accurately diagnosed them and, with great clarity and empathy, shared the proactive options. He was fantastic. As Badger's... surgeon, Dr. O'Donnell was absolutely stellar. He's personable, caring, and an excellent communicator. He shared the surgical challenges and the anticipated outcome. At all times, it was apparent that he truly cared about Badger and was using his surgical skills to help him. He is an absolutely exceptional surgeon. As an example, maintaining Badger's ear was in jeopardy. However, with his high skill level, Dr. O'Donnell saved his ear while still removing the MCT. Look at reviews, many reviews for being over charged. I do not recommend unless you want to be over charged. Having to take the over charges up with my credit card company since they refuse to talk to me about them. called for a cardiogram... and was told procedure was $450 & to see the vet $150, total $600. Had to pay $150 deposit. Fine. Did that. Day of the apt cardiologist came in to see me for less a minute to tell me it’s a tumor and not cardiac failure & another vet would be in. Other vet talked to me for 20 mins and sent follow up email. Since 2 vets talked to me they charged me an extra $150! I paid $750 total when I was told I would only be charged $600. I was charge $150 to have a vet tell me another vet would talk to me. I will say the second vet that I was charged $150 for did a good job. Just can’t believe they charged me $150 for literally 60 seconds of someone’s time & are refusing to talk to me about it. Ridiculous! My cat went missing for 3 weeks in the mountains and we found him late at night. My baby had a large open wound to his leg armpit. Lucky this vet was open! They were kind , fast, and attentive. We were given antibiotics which was great.... Recommend amputation or surgery to debride wound. They did clean the wound but left it open to air, which was a huge hole. Which we were trying to prevent any further infection if there was any. We personally ended up doing wound care ourselves with our own supplies and the wound is now closed and healed. $1500 for antibiotics and nothing else really. He’s great now with 4 legs. Healed wound ourself in about 2 weeks. No surgery, nothing. Just simple wound care, which was doubted and not recommended for a “cat”read more

I have waited a year to write this review, to make sure I did not come from a place of anger and sadness and instead give an honest review. However, a year later, I am still terribly sad and angry, and others need to know so you do not... make the same mistake I made and go to EVS. I am sad I have to even give 1 star. I wish I could give negative stars.Last year, on July 8, I found our bunny. Peter, unresponsive in his hutch. I rushed him to an exotic animal hospital in Denver and they were able to get him stable, after being there all day. However, they did not offer overnight care, so they recommended EVS for overnight stay. The vet called them and told them I was coming and what they needed to start right away, so they should have been prepared, right? No. When I got there, they had no clue I was coming, but did take Peter back and put him in an incubator. He already had the line started for IVs, but they did not start anything. They kept asking me what was wrong with him, and I finally had to call the first clinic back so they could call them again to tell them. Please remember, while they did get him stable, he was still critical. He was a Netherland Dwarf, and they are tiny to begin with. A rabbit’s health can turn extremely fast so no time can be wasted. I honestly thought that since they had talked to the first vet AGAIN, that they would start some kind of treatment. I was so very wrong. They put me back in a room and I waited 3.5 hours before a vet finally came to talk to me. When she did, I learned NOTHING had been started yet. Not even an IV. Even though I had paid up front when I got there. All she wanted to do was tell me he needed tests that he had just had done, and when I tried to argue that he did not, she made me feel like an awful pet parent. She came to me with an estimate and wanted ELEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS to treat him for 2 days. When I told her there was no possible way I could pay for that, having just paid $1,000 earlier in the day and having just spent 2 months in Texas with my grandmother in hospice, she told me I should just put him down. What?? I was a complete mess and only wanted my bunny stable until Monday when I could take him back to the good vet. We finally came to an agreed price, and she let me go back to see him before I left. Again, no IV, nothing. And he looked so much worse than when I first brought him to them, 4 hours prior. I begged them to get the IV started and could not understand why they could not even do that for him as soon as he got there. I was talked to like a toddler and was not treated with any kind of respect or dignity.I left the clinic and drove back to the Springs. I was not home for an hour when I got the call that my sweet baby had passed. She said all they had done was start the IV. They had not even given him the meds they were supposed to or anything. And he was gone.To make matters worse. I paid for him to be cremated and his clippings of fur saved. EVS lost his clippings! Are you kidding me? The incompetence at this hospital is just astounding.I know Peter was critical at the start of this day. But I also know he was stable when I got him to EVS and feel with every fiber of my being if he had not waited over 4 hours to have some kind of treatment started, he might still be here.We recently adopted a new bunny and I pray I never have an emergency like the one I had with Peter. However, if I do, I will bring him home and treat him at home before I ever step foot in EVS again. I hope anyone reading this will take our tragedy as a warning and never go here with your fur babies, because they may never come home.read more

I got home from work yesterday to find my beloved old dog having an allergic reaction. Living in Evergreen, everything closes early, so I was anxious to make what seemed like the longest drive ever. They got me started over the phone,... immediately started taking care of my dog when we got there and even let me wait with my other dog who stowed away on the ride down. I was surprised how affordable the bill was and relieved that it's not the kind of emergency debt that haunts you. The vet seemed to be working so hard but still took the time to explain everything, monitor my dog and even to my surprise, thanked me for my kindness and offered me water for my ride back to Evergreen. You could tell that they really care about their animal and human clients. Lastly, I just really enjoyed that the vet had personality and allowed her authenticity to be alive. My partner and I just moved here from out of state about two and a half weeks ago. Without warning or prior signs, my first kitty, Kenny (only 5 years old) woke up that morning with alarming symptoms. I called Evolution because it was the... closest place and they advised me to (safely) hurry in. They were incredibly responsive and saw me and Kenny right away. They were able to stabilize him and treated both of us with compassion and expertise. Everyone, from the front desk staff to the two vets I spoke with, was incredibly supportive and sensitive to the situation.I truly believe they gave Kenny all of the care and intuitive attention you would hope a medical provider would give a cat. Cats can be finicky, but I know they really listened to Kenny and were so attentive to him.It was a difficult call, but we had to make the decision to put him down. I've never had to euthanize a pet before and Kenny was my baby. We had a positive experience with EVS. One of our pups accidentally caught a tooth on our other pup causing a pretty deep gash, luckily it wasn’t actively bleeding but it needed to be stapled. We were triaged quickly and although had to... wait almost 2 hours to actually be seen due to a critical patient coming in, I felt this was a fair wait time for an urgent situation rather than an emergency. Initially I was shocked at the initial quote of almost $2K for a simple clip and close along with a handful of other tests etc.. that I didn’t feel were completely necessary for the given situation. But of course I understand ER costs and there are standards of care/protocols. The providers were happy and quick to give us another much more affordable care plan that we felt comfortable with! Hopefully we don’t need their services again but would definitely return and recommend to other pet parents.read more

Picked EVS since they had an ophthalmologist! Unfortunately, I was unavailable until the evening last week to schedule an appointment so I took through the ER. ER staff did some tests they knew the ophthalmologist would want to see and... tried to do an in-house consultant. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a response so I had to book an appointment the following week. When I got to the appointment, I was forced to redo the tests the ER already did. Even though the tests were normal originally the tech said it could have been completed wrong or his eye could have changed. (Even though his eye was better which the ophthalmologist also confirmed) I felt forced to pay for this second appointment and the tests when this all could have been addressed through the ER visit. I feel taken advantage by EVS! It’s a shame because they have talented vets and techs but it’s poorly run and completely disorganized.read more

We were referred here by green mountain vet because they were full for the day. I am so impressed with the care we received! Everyone was so kind and helpful! They took great care of my service dog Madison and although it was an expensive... vet bill I felt their pricing was reasonable. I also appreciated that they discussed the cost of everything prior to running the test or doing the treatment so I knew exactly what we were in for bill wise. 10/10 experience and highly recommend them for an emergency! I took my dog here after he lost the ability to chew his food or use his jaw. Before I even got my dog checked in or seen by anyone their front desk clerks were urging me to apply for all four of their credit card options. I should have... left right then and there. Here is some context to my visit: I had been to a vet clinic a few days before I took him to evolution and made sure I shared the previous doctor’s notes with them. They completely disregarded this and then diagnosed my dog with cancer and an infection. Both of these were incorrect! The fairly common auto immune disease he does have, MMM could have been diagnosed through a very simple blood test- not only did they not even offer this test to me but they gave him 4 other blood tests and gave him some pain killers plus an antibiotic and then recommended a very painful biopsy and that he stays overnight until their internal medicine doctor gets in the next day. They clearly they did not know what they were doing and kept everything very vague with me until I requested to speak with the actual doctor. On top of all of this they gave me an inaccurate estimate which was almost $4000. I spent all day at their office only to decline everything. Thank god I did because the next day I took my dog back to my local vet where they didn’t try to take advantage of my dog being sick and got him the correct medicine and diagnoses. I will never go back to this vet and would not recommend them to anyone.CASE in Boulder is only about 25-30 minutes from this location and has a much better staff and group of specialists: I’d recommend going there instead.read more

5 months ago, we came here & had to sadly put down our dog daughter of 17 years, Sugar Bear. A few days ago, I had to make a heartbreaking return to Evolution- this time to put down her brother, Pepper. But I called him "my One & Oni"... ((Pepper--Oni... get it? 😆)) That lil guy was my 1 in forever... & for the last 20 years, he was my absolute everything. Man oh man, he was truly something special. Obviously, anybody who has ever had to make such a decision, knows how truly awful it can be. But they say if you really really love them, then you gotta be able to make the call to end their suffering, when it's time. And although I agree-- it broke me clean in 2 to do it. I've honestly never cried so much in my life. And I realize that I'm getting off subject here... but on top of wanting everybody to know how wonderful my boy was, I equally want everyone to know how amazing Evolution was, as well. I don't even have the words to describe how hard it was going thru what I just went thru. But what I do know, is that during this hard time, and thru the procedure & the process- the staff at Evolution reeeally helped me navigate it all. They were/are true professionals! Very kind. Always respectful. Super sincere. I'm once again glad that my family & I chose to come here. I'm thankful for you, Evolution!PS- I was soo caught up in the sadness of that day, that I never got the name of the doctor who helped us. I wish I had, because she was absolutely the ultimate difference maker & I wish that I could extend my personal thanks for e.v.er.y.t.h.i.n.g she said & did that day. Our dog, Wilson suddenly got very ill. We took him to multiple vets, including EVS. At EVS, we had a great experience with Dr. Jackie Thaeder! She was so kind, supportive, and helpful. She made sure we understood what was going on and what... our options were. She recommended emergency surgery, which was terrifying. Unfortunately, EVS did not have the specialist surgeon on site that Wilson needed. However, Dr. Thaeder went above and beyond giving us emergency hospital options nearby and calling them herself to make sure they could get us in asap. Thankfully, our boy made it through surgery with no complications and is on day 4 of recovery and doing great! Dr. Tomoko Jensen-Otsu, Chelsea and Rowe were so sweet and accommodating, as well. My husband and I took our dog there at the end of August 2023 in respiratory distress. I am now a registered nurse but I was a vet tech for 10 years at Mesa Veterinary Hospital and had worked with Dr. Lake-Bakaar there. I had taken my... dog in just 2 days prior to Mesa and so at this point we thought he was in CHF and needed an echo. As it was about 4am and my kiddo was struggling evolution popped into my head and we brought him in with the intention that this was probably going to be his last day but that hopefully we could get an echo of his heart to help make our decision. None of these things were the issue. What was the issue is the lack of compassion from the overnight vet and not only that but she spoke to me like an idiot even though I told her multiple times my medical background. Even though the voice in my head was saying I knew what was best and for him and not to leave him there. The vet tech was fantastic and basically what convinced me to keep him there. They then immediately jumped on us about payment. I also understand but it was so aggressive my husband actually made a joke about asking if we needed to pay for the water. I asked if we could see our kiddo and they said not until I was done paying as if I was going to smuggle my dog out of there without paying. The day vet who took care of my kiddo was extremely compassionate and also a straight shooter she told me exactly what I needed to hear versus the overnight vet who wanted me to keep our dog there but felt like I was bothering her with any questions or even that I was bothering her by having to take care of my dog. We decided to euthanize him and they said I would receive a refund of the remaining funds within 3-4 weeks. I put my dog down August 30th I received the funds back December 8th. I will never come back to this place ever again and am so disappointed to this day about my experience there.read more

They took such good care of our Red Eared Slider, Clyde!!! He had received a poor prognosis May 2023 from a couple of vets, including Evolution. He was in bad shape and it was difficult to pinpoint what was causing his health decline. Dr.... Guardhouse and her team worked with us to treat what he had in the least invasive way possible while maintaining his quality of life. They took the time to explain his symptoms, possible ailments ranging from severe infection to kidney disease, and explained treatment options. After countless injections, several blood draws, 2 CT scans, and a surgery over the course of 9 months, Clyde is back to full health. Everything recommended as a course of action was well thought out and they were mindful of what we could afford to pay. It was also so clear how much they cared for him.Without this team, our little guy wouldn't have made it to his 14th birthday. Thank you so much to Dr. Guardhouse, Brianna, and the entire team at EVS! We will continue to make the hour drive for his future wellness exams, and highly recommend this team.read more

Specialty vet care is EXPENSIVE - there's no denying that. But in this case, you *absolutely* get what you pay for! EVA was recommended to me by my regular vet as a specialist clinic in internal medicine. My first visit I got there and waited in a room for quite a while. A tech came and took some notes about his condition. You would think that they... would get records from your vet so they had a complete history since they ask who your vet is. As many other reviews stated, you expect a normal exam in the room with you and your pet, that didn't happen. They came and took him back, and about an hour and a half later brought him back only to wait again on the vet. Vet came in and basically told me nothing that we didn't already know through my regular vet. EVS did blood draw, urine collection and ultrasound. Like many other reviews I had to pay something up front just to schedule an appointment. The tests done were $1400, which have been done before at my regular vet and were about 1/3 the cost. You would think they must be doing specialized testing, but they weren't. When we left the Vet said that he would send over discharge instructions and some prescriptions. I got the billing invoice immediately and an outline with some followup instructions, but no prescriptions. The discharge notes said to bring him back after a week on the medications to ensure that they were not causing any further issues. I called the office to schedule the one week appointment, or see if it got scheduled. They check and tell me that the first available is a month out. I told them that his discharge instructions said to bring him back after a week to make sure the new medications were not causing additional issues. They said again that the first available is a month out, which I said would work for the one month followup, but obviously not for the one week blood draw. They said they would check with the techs and see about getting me in that Friday and would call me back. I never heard back. I tried calling for three days straight and left messages since it went to voicemail every time with no success. Finally, I resorted to email and got a response, nearly three weeks later. I told them that if this is their normal responsiveness I wouldn't be coming back. They apologized about it all trying to smooth it over. I told them that I see no point in bringing him in earlier now since the one month appointment was less than a week. I went in for the month checkup thinking I would see the vet, all they did was a blood draw and used the urine I collected for his labs and collect another $380 and said they would let me know on the labs. Later that day I got a call from them, stating that they need to charge me another $64 for the labs because their testing equipment was giving wonky results and have to send it to another lab. Waited for that followup call on the labs that never came. A week later, I called and asked about the labs and told them I was expecting a call from the vet on them. They tell me that everything looks good, whatever that means. I told them so far my experience there has been horrible and does not inspire any confidence that this they know what they are doing. I am out almost $2000, and basically know nothing more now then I did through my regular vet. Who knows what those labs are showing since they don't return calls, the vet you barely see and doesn't followup, the office itself doesn't followup or ask how your pet is doing on the medication, nothing. This place is like most vet clinics now, they are bought out by larger companies and are being used as cash cows. There is no feeling that the people taking care of your pet actually care or know what they are doing. Paying double or triple the price for labs at a speciality clinic to get answers over your regular vet is just gouging, especially when there really is no treatment plan, nothing is covered with you by the vet, no specifics about anything. I don't intend on continuing there as already they have shown little regard for anything other than collecting that money and you have to constantly followup to get information otherwise you will be given none.read more

This place was absolutely disgusting! Our cat was having trouble breathing, so my wife took her while I stayed at home with our kids. When my wife showed up immediately, they just had no compassion and immediately started throwing prices... at us. I understand that your techs may be right and that it's going to cost money, but the lack of human decency that I heard on the phone and from my wife was absolutely disgusting. Then after trying to pay the $500 to walk in the door, and leave to go somewhere else with some empathy, they wouldn't let her leave, I had to hire someone so i could deal with this place. Eventually, we got a receipt, and they refunded some of the "services" they didn't use. If you're worried about your pet and looking for someone to talk with you that has some BASIC human deceny and understand that you love your pet, and to care more about the money that you know you are going to have to pay, go somewhere else. If we wanted uncompassionate robots, I would've looked for that. Losing a fur baby isn't easy. You think they could at least fake concern and empathy.read more

I want to underscore the review from 5 days ago from Julia. EVS was a nightmare. From waiting hours in the waiting room, to being told over the phone “we’ll call you back with updates” and never did. To clearly ignoring our phone calls in... an effort to shake more money out of our pockets. This is a money making operation, not a an emergency vet. At every turn, they wanted to “wait longer” keep our dog longer, and scam as much money off two teachers as they possibly could. I hated it here. They kept the animals behind closed offices and rooms. Everything was done in an effort to confuse and exploit the pet owners desperate for help.read more

They are horrible terrible people and don’t deserve to have your buisness. They spent more time getting money out of me then taking care of my animal and she died because of their lack of knowledge and care. Then they continued to tell me I owed them more money after her death even though they did not perform a single test or give her any medicine. This place was the absolute worst! I had to rush my puppy here due to blood in his stool. His usual vet was not available until 2 days later, and the other local vets in our area were closed at the time. We rushed him over, and I managed... to bring a stool sample with me as well in case they needed to test his stool for anything. We waited an hour before anyone saw us. The two nurses, whom we started working with, took my puppy's temperature and did a quick parvo test, which they said they would be back in about 8 mins with the results. We waited 2 hours, in those 2 hours my puppy had ended up having an accident and there was diarrhea on the floor. I began cleaning it up, and that's when two nurses walked in. My bf and I were so relieved to see the nurses thinking we were getting the parvo results or some kind of update. No. All these nurses did was walk in, start squealing about my puppy and playing with him, and then walked out. They saw me cleaning up his diarrhea. I even apologized for his accident, and they did nothing to help, but heaven forbid they left without playing with my sick puppy! We waited another hour before finally the vet came in and asked a couple questions and finally gave us the parvo test results, he took the stool sample I brought and then it was back to waiting...another hour. When the vet came back, he simply said my puppy had a bacteria infection and gave me the name of the bacteria, which was Clostridium. We were told he could have caught it anywhere and were given medication along with a special diet. No other information was provided, and when I Googled it, everything I read simply said to take my puppy to the vet. We were then told if his diarrhea continued after the medication, to bring him back for blood work and other really expensive tests that sadly my bf and I could not afford. We went through the medication and special diet, and everything seemed well until his diarrhea came back. My bf and I sadly could not afford any more medical expenses. We had a long and very hard conversation about rehoming our puppy, and sadly, we began looking into finding our puppy a new home. Thankfully, my cousin was able to take him as her husband absolutely fell in love with our good boy. We later found out from my cousin that the bacteria my puppy had did not require additional testing or medication. This ER vet was setting us up to pay for tests our puppy didn't need at all! This was my first dog ever, and I learned in the hardest and most painful way that these vets can not be trusted and to always get a second opinion! I gave my puppy up because of his medical expenses because this place made me believe I would be faced with additional medical tests and medication that would leave me in debts I wouldn't be able to pay off! I can't believe I so foolishly believed these vets! Thinking they had my puppy's best interests at heart! Thinking they wanted to help me and my puppy, no, not at all! All they care about is money here! And because of them, it cost me my puppy and a very harsh lesson to always get a second opinion and to never trust this place!read more

I just took my dog to this facility yesterday because she was peeing blood / blood clots. The vet was super nice and didn’t force us to do any unnecessary testing. She said it was most likely a UTI and gave us meds and told us to follow up... for more testing if the meds don’t help since my dog is young and healthy. I felt really comforted knowing I wasn’t being judged or feeling forced to pay a ton of money for testing that was (hopefully) unnecessary at this point. It also wasn’t outrageously priced and I felt my bill was reasonable. I appreciated everyone hereread more

I cannot say enough good things about EVS! I have been taking my guinea pig there for dental work for a year, now. When I first brought him in, I was afraid I was going to lose him, but with great care from Dr. Gardhouse, Trudy, and the... whole EVS team along with a lot of love and care at home, my little piggy is now healthier than he's been in years. EVS saved my dog’s life. While on vacation, my boy was displaying signs of bloat. I had my sitter take Kaiser to EVS. The staff got to him immediately. They called me minutes after Kaiser and his sitter arrived. The empathy from everyone... was comforting. The nurses and doctors are so kind, patient, and thorough. Did it cost all my savings and then some? Yea, but it was worth it. You get what you pay for here, amazing care. The staff and doctors are amazing. They treated Kaiser as a first class patient. They snuggled him and gave him a tablet to watch farm tv. They didn’t just lock him in a kennel. They truly bonded with him, making his recovery less stressful. Every day they provided me with thorough updates and never seemed annoyed if I called to ask questions. This was one of the most difficult experiences of my life, but the staff at EVS made everything better for me. A final plus is they audit all invoices to ensure nothing is over charged. I am forever grateful to everyone at this facility. Because of them, Kaiser made it home.read more

Hailing from the Northeast with high standards in both medical and veterinary care, I visited a practice that had talented doctors but lacked mature business practices. There appeared to be a disconnect between front and back office... operations in this privately owned venture by veterinarians. While Dr. Lake-Bakaar demonstrated intelligence and kindness in treating my dog, the staff under her lacked professionalism, which reflected poorly on management. Following my dog's treatment, I noticed concerning behaviors and attempted to seek answers from Dr. Lake-Bakaar, but encountered evasiveness. Despite multiple attempts to reach her directly, I was promised callbacks that never materialized. Frustrated, I persisted, only to be stonewalled by unhelpful staff who eventually hung up on me. Subsequently, a staff manager declined to speak with me due to my interactions with her team, leaving me without a resolution. These encounters underscored the business's low maturity level. While I'm not outright discouraging others from visiting, I advise understanding the challenges they may face. Later I consulted a veterinary cardiologist in Boulder to review my dog's EVS medical records. To my dismay, it was revealed that EVS failed to conduct an echocardiogram to assess the condition of the heart. Subsequently, it was discovered that my dog suffers from moderate to severe right heart enlargement, and the prescribed dosage of 40mg Sotalol twice a day was excessively high, exacerbating the inadequate blood flow to the lungs and brain. Consequently, the appropriate medication, Pimobendan, was deemed necessary to enhance cardiac output and circulation. This experience underscores the importance of selecting veterinarians judiciously and seeking second opinions when necessary.read more

I thought it was extremely odd that an examination wasn’t completed with me present, plus after the vet came in to speak to me AND then wait for an “estimate” to be explained to me.. my dog was still in the back. When I asked why my dog... wasn’t returned after the exam, the response was “oh she’s hanging out with us back there”. When I asked why, I was met with “why can’t she?”. Extremely unprofessional and concerning.I brought my pup in for a follow up visit regarding a respiratory issue that was ongoing for about 6 months, the specialist [comes in from out of town to help treat these specific visits] recommended I complete tests totaling at least $5k. When I refused and wanted to discuss other options, she commented that I am going to spend more over the next 3-4 years in visits & meds versus finding out what’s going on. I was a bit taken aback that she insinuated I would wait years to treat my pet, when it’s only been months. They were a bit pushy for a vets office and the entire situation became even more unsettling. At the first visit 2 months ago when an xray was done, I was told it looked fairly normal. But today at the follow up, this different vet said the xray actually showed abnormalities. I believe they have a lot to work on in regards to pet and owner care. Will be getting a second opinion.read more

I brought my pet for fluids after a severe vomiting event. I am happy fluids were finally received. But the way they managed our 5 hour visit was very stressful. They put us in a room and made us wait a long time w/no ETA before seeing... my pet. After we payed the exam fee, a tech took my pet into another room and kept her for a couple more hours, no ETA. Three hours in a doc came and told me no exam or fluids could be done until I signed their estimate. I was emotional, impatient and stressed out, so I agreed to most of the quote just to end haggling and get fluids into my pet. The hospital already had records from our primary vet, but insisted much of the previous week’s diagnostics needed to be redone, meanwhile isolating my pet from me. I had a strong feeling this was an orchestrated strong-arm sales tactic; a terrible way to treat people and pets seeking help😢read more

CARDIOLOGIST VISIT-The worst vet visit I have ever had was at this office. Have paid upwards of $1000 and have absolutely had to pull teeth to get any response or information on his condition. Came in because of a heart murmur and needed... a dental surgery & our regular vet needed a cardiologist opinion before operating. We were given a 24 heart monitor test for our dog. Turned in the device and didnt receive word back for over a week. Once I did get a vm about us needing to come in for a followup I called and called to schedule and could never reach anyone and no one called me back. Finally I sent an email because I couldnt reach anyone by phone and they schedule me a time (without even asking if it worked for us) and told us to be there. When we went in no one could tell us why we were there & were under the impression it was a follow up. They thought he had been on medication that we never received and no one had even told us about - as we never got the results of our test. Basically they did an echo heart scan (without telling us why or how much etc) and sent us on our way - trying to charge us for meds we never got. We waited for about an hour after requesting to speak with the actual Dr. to get some clarity on the tests, results, and what it meant for our pet but the Dr. never came. We left and basically spent a whole lot of $$ for absolutely no information. I tried to call and I sent 3 emails asking for the results and never received any correspondance back until this week -nearly 3 months later. We needed to see the doctor for out pet so he could be cleared for a surgery he needed & this organization basically just took our money, forced tests on us, didnt give us information nor were available to answer any questions we have about our dog's condition. Horrible service - when I finally got a response it was "you were never charged for anything you didnt receive" - which is also a lie. I dont have any issues with the actual cardiologist but the staff and vet techs at this org are an absolute joke.read more

One of the things I learned is most important regarding a vet clinic when I worked in multiple in the past is that you should never, ever trust a clinic that doesn’t do anything in front of you. My pets intake exam was done in a separate... room from where they put me, my pets anesthesia and euthanasia were both given in a separate room and they would not allow me to be present. These are concerning factors for a vet clinic and even at an emergency vet they should have exam rooms for patients owners to be present in-there’s absolutely no reason not to allow people to see what you’re doing unless you’re doing something wrong. I also never met the actual vet which I am so uncomfortable with, feels very very cold and I like to know my pets in good hands especially in their last moments.Further, it is AWFUL to not be with your pet in their last moments. They are literally dying, the last thing they see should be somebody familiar and loved, not a bunch of vets they don’t know and are terrified of. Any vet who cares and is compassionate would want you to be present to comfort your animal, so to not even allow me to be there for mine (yes, I’m saying the ‘visit’ under anesthesia is not enough) was extremely upsetting and I will certainly sooner drive an hour next time before coming back to let my pet be surrounded by unknown strangers in an unfamiliar place in her last moments.Last of all, they repeatedly called my pet ‘he’ when I said ‘she’ and all my intake work said female. I blatantly said ‘SHE has ___’ and they’d immediately say ‘okay we will take him to the back.’ Not that upsetting but very much felt like they were preoccupied and not present.TL;Dr - They do everything hidden in a back room so it feels sketchy, they will not allow you to be present to comfort your dying animal and have the closure you need to be there for them, they will seem distracted and inattentive.read more

We were shown into a cat-only exam room almost immediately upon arrival; there was still a wait (understandable since she was stable) but it was so nice to wait in an exam room so that we didn't have the added stress of dealing with other people/pets coming and going through the waiting room. The staff provided wonderful and consistent communication throughout our visit, and also emailed all test results to my normal vet. I'm very grateful for their attentive care to my kitty and also to me (human snacks in the waiting area!) during the long night. Highly recommended!read more

I want to start this off by saying that I RARELY trust a vet in the first visit. I was blown away by the care my dog received at Evolution. I'm extremely careful with who handles and provides care for my dog. I just moved from Thornton and... my regular vet didn't have any availability so a friend recommended Evolution. My dog was struggling and I knew I had to get him seen that day. The vet who saw Newt (Woods was her name) was absolutely incredible. She provided his care with me in the room which is extremely important to me when working with a new vet. She explained in great detail what she was doing and what her thoughts on the situation were. We talked about the next steps and she was honest about what she would do in my situation (massive respect for that!). I left feeling relieved and Newt had a great experience since I was able to provide small bits of boiled chicken during the new things he hadn't gone through before. So so so grateful to Evolution for giving me peace of mind and providing the best care for my dog.read more

Geoffrey and Dr. Penn took fantastic care of my my (not so) little boy. They were kind, careful, knowledgeable, and took the time to answer my questions and ensure I understood what was happening throughout our visit. I can tell they were... good to him because when they brought him back from the exam and we were waiting for test results, he walked up to both of them and nuzzled as well as begged for pets. In fact, everyone I interacted with was wonderful. I highly recommend Evolution.read more

Evolution was absolutely fantastic in taking care of my dopey Doberman who decided to try and eat something inedible and had to get emergency surgery. We were able to get help much quicker than we anticipated - given the high-volume /... low-staff problems that vet clinics are sadly experiencing everywhere. They were very compassionate, detailed the whole procedure, answered my (many, many) questions, kept me up-to-date on how the procedure went and followed up on her well-being. Everyone we talked to was thorough, extremely kind and very helpful. I highly, HIGHLY recommend them for emergency or routine care.read more

Their new scheduled urgent care appointment option is amazing! If you’re in a pinch with an urgent need but your regular vet may not be able to fit you in or handle the situation this is a great way to go! Entire staff was extremely... helpful (even at the ripe hour of 5am) and my dog liked them all in her own special way. Highly recommend for any variety of veterinary needs you might have!read more

On Saturday night, 8/7/21, our 10-y.o. pug mix was reverse sneezing a lot and after 20-30 minutes of this we noticed blood coming from one of his nostrils. We took him to Evolution Veterinary for emergency care at 9:30 p.m. Although... they were quite busy with several critical cases, they quickly made sure our dog was stable and took us to a private exam room with a television we could watch (though we didn’t). The staff were helpful and compassionate throughout the experience. We waited for maybe 45 minutes to see a vet technician, and the staff checked on us a couple of times to make sure we were okay. Our vet tech, Tabitha, was great, and took good care of our pup.read more

Great clinic for fur-balls! We were referred to this office by another vet across town (because the first vet was too busy). Our dog, Chicken, had an infection on her paw that needed attention. We walked in to this office without an... appointment, but were still admitted. The front office staff were friendly and honest that there would be a long wait before the doctor could see us. They checked on us multiple times over the course of the wait with snacks and updates, which we appreciated. The doctor was very kind to our hurt puppy and gave us a thorough write-up on how to continue treatment. Chicken is doing much better and is back to her squirrel patrol duty. Thank you again for taking care of our pooch!!read more

I rushed my 11month old Great Dane in for several issues. She was not eating or drinking, and had bad diarrhea and vomiting. The staff here quickly admitted her and started monitoring her, and giving her fluids. They were able to take... x-rays and determine the issue she was going through. They took great care of her over the next 24hrs, and kept me updated on her condition. They were up front with what needed to be done and estimates on cost. They came in under budget, and had a very good plan for how to proceed after I brought her home. She was very comfortable with the staff and facilities, and is doing much better now.read more

A really great experience to come here for an emergency visit, despite the circumstances. The staff were all very understanding and communicated clearly throughout the process — upfront pricing, flexible treatment options, and I believe... they offered payment plan options, as well. It’s always expensive and stressful to have to visit an emergency clinic with your beloved pet, though it was a bit less expensive here. Dr. Raj I believe was our clinician, and she was very thoughtful when I had questions about different blood tests. She took the time to walk through everything.I will definitely come back to them for future diagnostic/surgery/lab work knowing how well they handle their late-night ER patients.read more

Lil Mr. Oreo and Ms. Brownie are mine and my husbands family. Brownie started not being able to keep food down at all. Our regular vet Highlands Animal Hospital (Who are also awesome BTW) But they were too busy at the moment and Brownie... needed help. When another vet recommends a fellow vet, that speaks volumes. We first called and explained that we had been in conversations with our regular vet but they were full and we needed help. Evolution had us come in right away and Brownie had some x rays and blood work. Luckily it turned out to basically being dehydrated. However, they kept Brownie over night and made sure she was OK. All the staff and the doctors were amazing. Brownie was in really capable hands. The care was not cheap, but they are very up-front with the costs and worth every penny. Tabitha, Brownies' tech even took a picture of Brownie and sent it to us to show her worried brother Oreo that she was OK. I hope we never have a need to go back, but if our dogs need urgent care, you better believe we won't hesitate. Thank you Evolution Vetread more

My 14 year-old dog Ralph was diagnosed with congestive heart failure a week ago today. My vet put him on some medication, but over the next few days, his condition started declining. I knew I wanted to have him seen by a cardiologist, but... I thought I'd have to wait until the following week to do so, assuming anyone could even fit us in. I did some googling, and came across Evolution Veterinary Specialists. They told me I could bring Ralph in right away, and that they could consult with their cardiologist (who wasn't in at the time) if necessary.I dropped Ralph off with them shortly after the call. It was the first time he had ever stayed at a vet overnight, and I was a wreck. They called me with regular updates, and every time my phone rang, I would panic, but all of the doctors and technicians were so upbeat and optimistic. After two nights, several tests, a pulmonary hypertension diagnoses, and some medication adjustments, I was finally able to pick Ralph up and bring him home. It's been a little over 24 hours, and I can't believe how much better he is doing. It's like night and day. He's back to his old self (though a bit more sleepy), his appetite is coming back, and he seems so much happier. One week ago today, I didn't know if we'd still have him around past the weekend, so I am beside myself. It's also worth mentioning that Ralph is pretty aggressive with anyone who isn't me. I always worry about taking him to new doctors, because he's not an easy patient. They were able to help him despite his grouchy demeanor, and that really means a lot. Ralph's care was not inexpensive, but it was worth every penny to have more quality time with him.read more

I moved to the area about 3 months ago and due to COVID many primary vets are not taking on new clients at this time, so I was referred to Evolution when I called one vet about my dog (Reggie, 2 y/o shepherd mix) who we suspected had... kennel cough.Evolution was able to get us in right away you could tell they were dedicated to keeping both the animals and the people coming in to their building safe.Because of the symptoms I mentioned over the phone, the vet tech had me come in through a separate entry to avoid Reggie contacting any other dogs/spreading his cough. As for me, they were sure to clearly explain all the social distancing measures they were taking in order to ensure their staff and visitors. The room was very clean and the vet tech (I forget her name but she was so nice!) and the vet (Dr. Liz!) were extremely kind and thorough.Reggie is my first dog ever and this was the first time we've had to come in for something beyond vaccinations and a regular check up. Thank you so much to the kind, caring and compassionate humans at EVS. Our Mazie Moo was given a fighting chance with their expertise and I was guided along the way with some very tough decisions. Dr. McGuire was amazing, in the tough... phone call to myself to meeting my husband at the front door at 11pm just so he could say hi to our pup. Expectations were clear and we knew she was in the best, knowledgeable hands. A special thank you to the nurse who spent an hour explaining, planning and teaching me how to care for my moo at home, your kindness did not go unnoticed. As I did many times, I broke down at one point and said "I'm sorry I'm crying, I just love her so much and want to do what's right".
