JOB SUMMARY

The role of the Financial Clerk will be to help support the clinical staff by entering charges captured by services performed and products received and to review financial records to rectify discrepancies and missed charges. Additionally, the Clerk will be the primary role responsible for attempting to collect payment on these missed charges and offer corrections on overcharges.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Knowledge:

  • Competently speak and write the English language, Spanish a plus
  • Must possess exceptional organizational and management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially to a diverse range of audiences and settings
  • Ease with computer systems, able to quickly learn and navigate new systems.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Outstanding client communication skills
  • Previous experience as a veterinary technician is preferred.

General Tasks:

  • Possess and express a genuine love for animals and for working in an animal care environment
  • Always be prepared to work by the start of each scheduled shift
  • Maintain a professional, friendly demeanor while on the job
  • Perform job tasks efficiently, promptly, and efficiently when asked
  • Assisting in accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Assist Client Service Representatives with processing payment balances due on check out.
  • Lead the outreach for the recovery of Aged Receivables and Outstanding Invoices.
  • Assist in returning approved credits on client accounts
  • Assist with End of Day financial

Medical-Record Management Tasks:

  • Understand electronic medical records system (Ezyvet)
  • Understand and use billing system (Payjunction)
  • Managing medical records, reports, invoices, and correspondence
  • Auditing financials and resolving discrepancies
  • Auditing Patient records for completeness and necessary diagnostics records and attachments are there
  • Charge Capturing of inpatients
  • Assist with outpatient charges for the ER

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Excellent Communication and Customer Service skills
  • Ability to discuss financial obligations with clients- Will act as a client-pet advocate
  • Excellent understanding of best financial practice and debt collection process
  • Above average math skills
  • Ability to understand and appropriately utilize financial and veterinary nomenclature
  • Update various doctors and technicians regarding the client’s financial situation and the client’s goals for the pet’s treatment.
  • Ease with computer systems, knowledge of Excel & Quickbooks necessary.
  • Previous experience in the veterinary field preferred.
  • Act as a professional representative of the Hospital/Company in all interactions
