Dr. Erik Kleeman joins the EVS team as a Residency Trained Small Animal Surgeon, bringing extensive training and experience in both general and specialty veterinary medicine. Dr. Kleeman graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, where he also earned a Master of Public Health. He continued his advanced training with a small animal medicine rotating internship at Tufts University, followed by a surgical internship at BluePearl Specialty Animal Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

Dr. Kleeman then spent two years practicing as a general practice and emergency veterinarian at VCA Deer Creek Animal Hospital in Denver, Colorado, before continuing to pursue his passion for surgery. He later served as a surgical associate veterinarian at Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and completed his small animal surgical residency at Bridger Veterinary Specialists in Bozeman, Montana.

Throughout his surgical training, Dr. Kleeman gained advanced experience in a wide range of procedures, including soft tissue and trauma surgery, oncologic surgery, TPLOs, fracture repair, neurosurgery, and minimally invasive procedures. He is also a published author and continues to contribute to research focused on orthopedic surgical procedures.

Dr. Ruth Rose is joining the EVS team as our Locum Board-Certified Small Animal Surgeon through the end of 2026, bringing extensive experience in advanced small animal surgery and a specialized focus in surgical oncology. Dr. Rose earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her small animal surgical residency at Animal Specialty Group in Los Angeles. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2010.

Dr. Rose has extensive experience in orthopedic, soft tissue, and oncologic surgery, with particular expertise in complex surgical and cancer cases. She has also completed advanced training in surgical oncology and spent several years at Colorado State University as a research scientist and Clinical Instructor in surgical oncology.

A published author and experienced educator, Dr. Rose has contributed to veterinary research focused on surgical oncology, orthopedic conditions, bone healing, and regenerative medicine. She has also mentored veterinary students, interns, residents, and surgical oncology fellows throughout her career.
